As seen in our April 2012 issue of Nuts & Volts Magazine.
This is an electronic kit for the very experienced hobbyist. The hanging clock shows 1,250+ parts in all their glory. There are no integrated circuits; all functionality is achieved using discrete transistor-diode logic. The 180 volts for the Nixie displays is developed from 12 volts by a boost switching power supply, which is detailed in the manual. The assembly manual has a logic tutorial and circuit descriptions that attempt to explain how the clock works. (Download the Manual)
Features:
- 50 or 60 Hz jumper settings
- Seconds Hold switch
- 12 or 24 hour decoding
- Display turn-off by the hour
Kit Includes:
- 215 Transistors
- 518 Diodes
- 472 Resistors
- 101 Capacitors
- 10" x 14" Printed Circuit Board (PCB) with silk screen symbols indicating component locations
- Nixie Tubes, Nixie sockets, solder, solder-wick, misc other parts, printed assembly manual

The kit comes with all parts and the PCB with the part symbols showing the values of the components for easy assembly. Solder and solder-wick are included, along with spare parts for many items.
This kit is for experienced builders only!! This project generates high voltage to power the Nixie tube display and can be very dangerous to those unfamiliar with safe handling techniques. Only those experienced with building or working with high voltage power supplies should attempt to construct it.
